In addition, Monika has worked in 4 different eating disorder treatment centers, providing counseling and developing nutrition protocols. She wrote/edited the American Dietetic Association's first book on eating disorders, entitled, "Eating Disorders: A Clinical Guide to Counseling and Treatment".   Her business bases are Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area, and Los Angeles, California.  She is currently the nutrition adviser for the reality (cable) television show, "PCOS Challenge."

Monika's work in sports endocrinology, disordered eating, and women's health eventually led to her creation of the inCYST Network for Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).  This network currently has over 50 health care providers specfically trained to use a nutritional/functional approach to PCOS and infertility management.  It has also grown to become the inCYST Institute for Hormone Health, so that its growing influence in the PCOS community could be used to develop additional programs for both men and women with hormone-related issues.

Special Honors

***Based on her 7 summers of volunteer work at the American Diabetes Association Camp, Monika was invited in 1989 to join a delegation of medical professionals who traveled to Lithuania to conduct a conference on diabetes management.  This was the first delegation of American professionals who had traveled to Lithuania from the United States since World War II.

***Monika was the 2004 invited speaker for the Cornell University Dorothy Proud Lecture series, an endowed lecture series that annually invites a  Cornell alumnus back to Ithaca to share their career story with students and faculty.

***Monika was presented the Five Star Meow Award by the Arizona Animal Welfare League in 2008.

Monika intentionally strives to create and maintain a network of like-minded professionals, not to merely use the inCYST brand as a promotional point for herself.  Not every professional in the business will fit under this umbrella.  That's not wrong at all, it's just experience has taught that inCYST is most effective when it prioritizes relationships with others whose treatment philosophies and business models are consistent.  It is better to do an awesome job helping one person than it is to be useless to a room full of people at their expense.

inCYST is currently working will be to offer its training as a for-credit program to registered nurses.  (Click here to be notified when this becomes official!)  This expansion will allow inCYST's philosophy to be integrated, into the practices of family nurse practitioners, lactation specialists, and diabetes educators.  This is an important step toward achieving our goal of having our  educational resources available in as many health care settings as possible. inCYST is elated that soon it will finally achieve its goal of working side by side with its colleagues in nursing.

In the years that inCYST has been in existence, several qualities have stood out about its members:

  •     their commitment to learning and integrating complex scientific data into daily work with everyday people

  •     their entrepeneurial nature and ability to promote good health information in their respective communities

  •     their integrity

  •     their humility--focusing on helping others over receiving recognition for their own personal achievements.

inCYST is pleased to promote, support, and encourage the members of this network in their commitment to inspiring healthy choices and personal well-being in the people they inspire every single day.

How We Define Success

For Monika, success will come on the day she has put herself out of business--that is the day when all that money and energy will be  focused on education, health improvement, and tolerance for all regardless of size, age, gender, religion, or culture. When that happens, Monika will be found at an isolated Central American beach, sipping a banana milkshake and writing children's stories. That day, unfortunately, is not today--so that is why you are reading this story!

Hopefully someday you will click on this link and find nothing because there is no need to find anything anymore...
